3rd Annual

Fall Brawl

The racing season came to a close with the running of the 3rd Annual Coca-Cola Fall Brawl At the Midway Speedway with 195 different race teams total during the two day event and perfect track conditions on both nights as new champions were crowned.

Race Brothers Show Me Racin' Series Late Models

The Show-Me Racin' Series Late Models provided another outstanding show and field of drivers as 22 took the opening green as Kevin Patrick grabbed the opening lead from his pole spot with Justin Asplin right behind him. On lap 2, teammate Rick Wallis grabbed the lead going to the top side as Asplin and Patrick battled side by side. A red flag flew on lap 5 as it looked as if Patrick and Jeremy Kelley were going to go around but both drivers kept it straight and kept their positions. On the restart, Wallis moved to the low groove as Kelley had found the high groove and was coming quickly as the duo battled side by side with Kelley grabbing the lead on lap 9. With Kelley in control, Jim Fulp began his charge forward and moved into the runner up spot on lap 10 with point leader Leslie Essary following through followed closely by early leader Wallis, Conner Ward and Ken Essary with Roger Wilson close behind. During the long green run, Midway traffic became a factor as leader Kelley and Fulp were quick on the high side but Leslie Essary was making up ground on the bottom. On lap 22, Leslie moved around Fulp to grab 2nd place and set his sights on Kelley who was looking for his 1st ever Show-Me Late Model win. On lap 24, Leslie moved around Kelley in lapped traffic to grab the lead while cars were going high and low both. On lap 28, Kelley caught Leslie Essary and made a last-lap effort to take over the lead but fell two car lengths short. Following the lead duo to the line were Jim Fulp, Ken Essary and Conner Ward as 13 cars finished on the lead lap. Leslie Essary was able to defend his Fall Brawl championship pocketing $1,500 for the win. "Mr.Armstrong provided us with another outstanding track tonight and I hope the fans enjoyed the race." Coming from his 10th starting spot, Leslie didn't know if he could catch leader Kelley. "Jeremy was strong and runs here really well. This is a drivers track and we have several good drivers in this series."

 A + C Construction A-Modifieds

In The A-Modified feature, Steve Muilenburg brought the field down to the green with 2007 Midway Champion Eric Hudson right on his bumper followed closely by Steve Martin, Jimmy Willis and Rex Merritt. On lap 4, leader Muilenburg broke a shock and went spinning to the infield in turn 4 with Hudson getting on the brakes and moving to the infield also but both cars kept going as the race stayed Green with Jimmy Willis taking over the lead on lap 5 as Muilenburg retired to the pits. With Willis in control, Rex Merritt moved to challenge for the lead but Steve Martin moved around to grab 2nd place and challenged leader Willis. Following a caution on lap 9, Jesse Stovall, who started 9th on the grid, began a charge to the top side and began picking off cars moving to the front while leader Willis had a handful of Steve Martin. Stovall, after moving to the top side, grabbed the lead on lap 12 and began to checkout from the field as 2006 Midway Champion Tony Jackson, Jr. also moved topside and began a charge to the front. Willis, Martin, Merritt, Jim Roach and Eric Hudson kept a tight battle for 3rd place. Out in front, Stovall kept his top spot well ahead of runner up Jackson as they took the checkered flag with Stovall becoming the 3rd different Fall Brawl winner with Jackson, Ragland, Merritt and Hudson completing the top 5 as Willis and Martin spun on the last lap dropping them back in the pack.

Tim Parsons Auto Sales Super Stocks

The Super Stocks provided excellent racing action as Veteran J.C. Newell grabbed the early lead on lap 2 from pole sitter Ben Newell only to spin in turn four on lap 4. Newell came charging from the back to move back into the top 5 two laps later as Dwight Neihoff was following, also. With Newell and Ginnings trying to settle it between themselves, J.C. used the top groove on lap 17 and withstood a couple of late cautions to take the top prize with Ginnings moving around Ben to grab 2nd as B.  C.A. Trikes & Trailers B-Modifieds

The B-Modified feature saw Randy Lebow grab the early lead with Colt Cheevers and Tyler Brown closely following along with Josh Woody and Shawn Nations. Nations night ended on lap 7 with problems as he went to the pits. On a lap 8 restart, Lebow and Cheevers were waging a war for the top spot as this battle continued until lap 15 when they made contact together and Lebow went spinning. Cheevers was sent to the rear of the field but had broke a tie rod and his night was done. This put Tyler Brown in front with 15th starting Steve Muilenburg moving quickly and putting pressure on young Brown. The two exchanged slide jobs and tight racing as Tyler Brown crossed the line capturing the win but later failed tech inspection giving the win to Muilenburg as Jeff Albright, Jr., Wayne Johnston, Jack Lancaster and T.R. Phillips captured the top 5 spots.
